Gór-Stal is located in Gorlice in małoposkie voivodeship, in a city of very rich industrial traditions. Between 1853-1858 Ignacy Łukasiewicz, pharmacist and constructor of an oil lamp had here his own laboratory. Here, he improved his invention, constructed the first lamp-post and made petroleum distillation better. He established first mines, oil companies, and built industrial distilleries. It was also his idea to establish National Association of Oil with its head office in Gorlice. Here, also the first polish oil newspaper "Górnik" (''The Miner'') was published. In the second half of the XIX century, east from the city, there were created two, major in Galicia, factories: factory of tools and drilling and oil machines as well as oil distillery - further refinery. The companies now still conduct their business activity.

Part of industrial areas of Gorlice were connected with a Special Economic Zone EURO-PARK MIELEC. It is the oldest special economic zone in Poland. It was created in 1995. It covers an area of 708 ha. Investments in SEZ until the end of 2004 were amounted at 2,1 mld zlotys. In the area of SEZ EURO-PARK MIELEC around 120 companies conduct their business activity, and employ 13 400 people, around 70% of whom (9166 posts) are employees who work on posts which were newly created by zonal investors. Moreover, around 70% of engaged capital comes from abroad. In the area of SEZ there is an airport that is able to take large cargo and passenger planes.

Creating this zone allowed for overcoming traditional industrial monoculture. New working places covered various areas: such us geodetic, designing, and constructional services, transport, schooling, telecommunication, computer services, banking, tourism, catering business and environmental protection

Gorlice city it is a vital centre of machine, wood, oil industry that possess well experienced and qualified technical and engineering personnel, developed industrial infrastructure, rich culture that dates back to the times of the Middle Ages, and is located in a picturesque region of Beskid Niski.
